Hey Meps - thanks for the homemade pizza dinner last night. You and your PaPa Murphy did a great job. Deb and I really enjoyed your selections. It was fun for us to have you stop by Lake Minnetonka on your adventure east. Sorry it was too rainy & cold to take out one of our boats. We've become fair weather boaters. We like dry & warm. We both love adventures and really respect "travelers." That is different than "tourists". Cruising Sailors are great travelers.

I just hope you can be a little happier and friendlier to people along your way. If you could just do that, no one would ever let you leave their village or town! We were a bit overwhelmed by your whirling visit and departure, plus a little jealous of your journey.

I know you don't really have much respect for John Steinbeck's "Travel's With Charlie," but one of the best quotes for tourists and travelers to learn you already know from the book. To paraphrase: no matter how well you pack or plan your journey, you have no control once you leave home. You don't take the trip, the trip takes you.

Your trip seems to be taking you on a serendipitous journey. Connecting with people here and there. Keep having fun and don't worry about whatever else is happening in the world. When you get home, you'll be a changed person as we all are after traveliing. I believe you'll be an even better than before. Your family and friends will still love you even after your growth.

Best wishes, D & T

I traveled across country in my dad's old Mercury, hauling a trailer full of furniture (Columbus to Seattle). Took me 6 days - but stopped 2 days in Denver. Once I was used to it, it was a wonderful experience. Lots of friendly people. And sometimes I actually created solitude for myself deliberately. Enjoy your growth and the adventure. love ya.
