Thanks for bringing back great memories! Lake Placid was a frequent weekend day-trip for me during my days at Clarkson University. I love the town’s ambiance, and the thrill of watching great winter sports all year round. I remember visiting in the fall during the annual folliage explosion, and being in awe of the free-style ski jumpers flying off of the ramp to perform their acrobatics before splashing into the pool. I’ve also got great pictures from hikes along the river at the base of Whiteface, and of the dog-sleds on the lake behind the main street through town. I’ve only been back once since college, to ski Whiteface (which is as challenging a mountain as I’ve skied anywhere!), but now you’ve planted the seed, and I know I’ll have to go back again someday (hopefully soon).
