I know that saving cats is not your mission. We'll see.

Saving cats is not my mission either, officially. We have a fellow here in the complex who makes it his mission. I don't know his name; he calls himself "the cat man." We have plenty of stray/feral cats here, and he feeds and takes additional care of about a dozen of them. I've always been glad someone else does that.

All the same, there is somehow a cat a few feet to my left. Our daughter's boyfriend began feeding her in late autumn and gradually made her way inside after the first snow came. The "grouchy old man" in the household (that's me) couldn't leave her outside in the winter. She had a litter of five kittens last weekend. They're all gray tabbys, just like her. We hope to have her spayed before spring. We already have homes for a couple of the kittens once they're weaned.

Sometimes I make logical decisions; sometimes the decisions make me.
